Matarael is a strange looking angel. Matarael looks extremely similar to that of a spider. It's 4 legs are large, and very strong. The top of Matarael's body is flat, however the bottom is round. Matarael's body is covered in eyes.
The Large eye on the bottom of Matarael's body is the one that generates the Strong Acids. Matarael's mission seems to be to pour it's acids right down into NERV itself.

Matarael's AT Field is way below average. Either it never put one up, or it's just naturally that weak. Rapid shots from a Pallet Rifle were enough to finish this monstrosity. During the battle, Asuka bravely acted as a shield while Shinji, the gunner, fired at Matarael after Asuka pulled away. Matarael's Red Core is none other than the huge eye on the bottom
